Series 3 opens with us hitting record just as the conversation is already running – something about doors, thresholds, and Brian’s website photo making him look like Batman. Bear with us we do eventually calm down…
It settles into the thing both of us are actually living right now. Brian is part-way from being a consultant to being a full-time novelist, calling himself “neither and both.” Martin is helping teams get comfortable walking into a room with no plan and trusting the work will emerge. Two versions of the same in-between.
From there our conversation wanders somewhere neither of us planned which was always the point of exploring liminality. We end up arguing that instability might now be the normal state for organisations
“Instability is the stability of the moment.”
and explore what that means:
As we explore farming as a metaphor for a more seasonal and connected way of navigating multi-system complexities - amongst the very serious points we are trying to make with this - we decide the next person we really want in front of the mic is an actual farmer - and Martin suggests he should set off now to go find one (He lives in East Lothian).
No tidy conclusion.
There rarely is one.
